SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — GWS Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB:GWSC), an alternative energy company
developing and marketing solar and wind-powered renewable energy
products and solutions, announced today that it is working with Dominion
Real Estate Investments, LLC to develop a 36-acre solar farm in
Florence, Arizona. The project will cost approximately $28 million.
The company plans to install six megawatts of mono-crystalline fixed
solar panels, as well as one megawatt of a concentrating solar power
(CSP) system, as a beta test for use in the companys future projects.
Fixed solar panels have no moving parts, collect sunlight and convert it
into electricity, while CSP systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking
systems to focus sunlight into a small beam which is concentrated onto a
photovoltaic surface.
This project would be one of the largest projects in Arizona and, in
conjunction with other projects, gives us 40 megawatts under
development, which positions us to be a leader in solar farm development
in the Southwest, said GWS Technologies President Richard Reincke.
Forty megawatts generates enough electricity to provide power to
approximately 12,000 homes, Mr. Reincke added.
The Arizona Corporation Commission has set renewable energy standards
mandating that regulated utilities generate at least 15 percent of their
power from renewable resources such as solar and wind by 2025.

QUORN WI: Two representatives of the York History of Costume Museum visited the county HQ to give a talk entitled Undressing Mr Darcy.
A man made his entrance from the back of the hall dressed in a tall hat, greatcoat, breeches, and long boots.
The lady proceeded to describe each item of clothing that Mr Darcy wore and, as she described it, he took it off.
The annual strawberry tea took place in the garden of the president.
The next meeting will be on August 13 at Quorn Church Rooms at 1.30pm when Kevin Barfield will speak on the subject of From Music Hall to Variety – A Musical Journey.
CCIM clears post-SSC ayurveda degree course [Pune]

PUNE: If the Union ministry of health and family welfare’s department of Ayush has its way, Secondary School Certificate (SSC, Std X) pass students will soon have the option of going in for a seven-and-a-half-year degree course in ayurveda medicine.
The Central Council for Indian Medicine (CCIM), which regulates studies in Indian medicines, ie ayurveda, yoga and naturopathy, unani, siddha and homoeopathy (Ayush), has cleared a proposal for introduction of an optional post-SSC degree course in ayurveda during its executive committee meeting held in New Delhi recently.
Speaking to TOI on Friday, CCIM member Suhas Parchure said, “The new course is proposed to be introduced from academic year 2010-11. It will have a two-year pre-ayurveda component featuring one ayurveda subject and six subjects in basic sciences (physics, chemistry, zoology and botany), english and computer studies.”
“A separate common entrance test (CET) at the post-SSC level has been proposed for the new course,” he said.
As of now, admissions to the regular five-and-a-half-year ayurveda degree course (BAMS) in the state are done through the Maharashtra Health & Technology – Common Entrance Test (MHT-CET), which is conducted at the post-HSC (Std XII) level. The association of private unaided ayurveda colleges also conducts a separate CET for the admission purpose.
Parchure said, “The push for the post-SSC degree course has come from the department of Ayush as part of its strategy to promote a liking for ayurveda studies among students at an early age.”
The department is now expected to publish the new course plan in the gazette to invite suggestions and objections from different states over a period of 90 days. A final gazette notification for launch of the course will be issued after this process is completed.
However, the move has not gone down well with a section of the CCIM members, especially those from Kerala and Maharashtra, who have registered their strong opposition to the post-SSC degree course on several grounds

Investment Expands and Diversifies GGPs Ownership Base and Preserves

CHICAGO & AUSTIN, Texas — General Growth Properties, Inc. (NYSE:GGP) and The Teacher Retirement
System of Texas (TRS), manager of one of the largest and most successful
U.S. pension funds, today announced they have entered into a definitive
agreement whereby TRS will invest $500 million in exchange for equity in
reorganized GGP at $10.25 per share. This agreement, subject to
Bankruptcy Court approval, enhances GGPs expected capital structure on
emergence from Chapter 11.
GGPs initial investment agreements with Brookfield Asset Management,
Fairholme Funds and Pershing Square Capital Management, which provide
sufficient capital for the company to emerge from Chapter 11, include a
backstop provision for $1.5 billion of debt and $500 million of equity
required for emergence. Since completing these agreements, GGP has
continued to explore alternative financing options to maximize the
equity value of the company upon emergence. GGPs agreement with TRS is
the result of that process.
The equity investment by TRS is yet another vote of confidence in the
